Some of our customers have notice a change in the wording on the bottles of Poultry Shield but don’t worry, it’s still the same product, the active ingredients in poultry shield haven’t changed and it remains one of the most effective ways of dealing with red mite in your chicken coop.

Poultry Shield was originally created as a chicken house cleaner which it was very good at but it was quickly noticed that in addition to this it also had an adverse effect on red mite ( Dermanyssus gallinae ) – it’s cleaning ability was effective at “cleaning” the waxy coating that cover red mites leading to them dying from dehydration.

Due to pesticide legislation, Poultry Shield can’t be sold as a pesticide as it doesn’t have the required testing so you won’t see any mention of it killing red mite on the label, just that it will “clean” them away.  It will also still “Clean” any other mite with a waxy outer coating.
