Delivery Costs
Our delivery charges are based on the weight of the order and the delivery location. If you would like to see a total as you add items please complete your address details after adding the first item. There is no obligation to buy until you complete the order. Charges start from only 93p up to £7.95 for a 25 kg parcel delivered to a UK mainland address (excluding Scottish Highlands) via our non urgent service. Some items will require seperate shipping due to their size or weight and will incur their own shipping charge.

What is poultry grit?

Your chickens need insoluble grit to aid digestion.

As they have no teeth (as rare as hens teeth?) they use small bits of grit and stone to grind up their food before they can digest it. If they free range they may find enough but if they are in a chicken pen, especially with a litter base they may need extra in the form of poultry grit.

Your hens also need a supply of soluble calcium

Your hens also need a supply of soluble calcium in the form of oyster shell or limestone flour. This helps to maintain the strenght of the egg shells. Some feeds may already contain this supplement but if not, or your hens lay soft shelled eggs then they may benifit from some extra.

Chick Grit and Flint Hen grit are pure flint grits, sized to suit.
Crushed oyster shell is peices of oyster shell.
Limestone flour is finely ground limestone.
Mixed poultry grit is a blend of flint hen grit and crushed oyster shell
