 Do you need to protect your hens from predators?You can increase the security of your existing chicken run by adding single strands of electric wire top and bottom.Add a strand of electric wire top and bottom of an existing chicken run to further deter foxes. The existing mesh is connected to earth and remains safe to touch - it's only when both the mesh run or the ground and either of the hot wires are touched that the fence will deliver a shock. You'll need: 2 stand off insulators per wire for each corner post and 1 for each intermediate post. An energiser - The shrike is adequate for most installations or the battery / mains energiser will give a bigger kick. An earth spike. Extra earth connection - we supply a spare set of energiser leads which may also be long enough to provide the top electrical connect as well.
